comScore and Media Contacts Study Highlights Behavioral Differences Among Online Video Viewer Segments

Light Online Video Viewers are Heavy TV Viewers

The conventional wisdom says that the heaviest users of the digital channel are likely to be the heaviest consumers of media in general. However, the study found that light online video viewers are actually heavier TV consumers, with 46 percent of this group indicating they watch more than 13 hours of TV per week. By comparison, just 39 percent of moderate video viewers and 30 percent of heavy video viewers watched the same amount of TV

Does Chatter Matter? The Impact of User-Generated Content on Music Sales,

A study conducted by New York University's Stern Business School, Does Chatter Matter? The Impact of User-Generated Content on Music Sales,

findings are as follows:

(a) the volume of blog posts about an album is positively correlated with future sales,

(b) greater increases in an artist’s Myspace friends week over week have a weaker correlation to higher future sales,

(c) traditional factors are still relevant – albums released by major labels and albums with a number of reviews from mainstream sources like Rolling Stone also tended to have higher future sales.

Design update

It is fashion week here in NYC, which means design. We are in
the process of updating our own lookbook and website. Design identity
moves with the fashions or is outcast.

Our programing and design vertical has been doing some amazing
work. I wanted to push in advance to that page and highlight
some of the digital production goodness coming out of wiredset.
Great work from Matt, Emily, Jeff and the whole program and production team.

Also below are some interesting and applicable stats from the article, (the study was from 11/07):

    * 25% of A18-24 said they would watch more movie trailers if available online
Also, another article discussing how media execs feel the growth and advertising opportunities on social networkign sites are overstated.

* 72% of execs feel that "niche enthusiastic online media" has accurate growth potential while 69% feel that social media networks have overhyped growth potential (versus 27% that think the growth potential is accurate).
* Also 62% think mobile content has accurate growth potential
* 47% think UGC has accurate growth potential (Versus 46% who think it's overhyped)
